Summary Minutes of the June 25, 2013 Commission Work Session
A work session of the Lake Forest Plan Commission was held on Tuesday, June
25, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., at the City’s Municipal Services Facility, 800 Field Drive,
Lake Forest, Illinois.
Commission members present: Chairman Michael Ley and Commissioners Augie
Ziccarelli, Lloyd Culbertson, Jeff Kuchman and Guy Berg
Commissioners absent: Commissioners John Anderson and Jim Carris
Staff present: Catherine Czerniak, Director of Community Development
City Consultant present: Lee Brown, Teska and Associates
1. Bus Tour
The Commission took a bus tour of the City’s former Municipal Services Facility
site and the surrounding areas including the nearby residential neighborhoods
and the Central Business District.
2. Work Session
The Commission returned to the City’s current Municipal Services Facility for a
work session. The intent of the work session was to provide background
information to the Commission in preparation for future discussions.
Information on the zoning, development patterns and densities in the area was
provided. The past community discussions regarding redevelopment of this site
were reviewed as well as the Development Parameters previously accepted for
this site by the City Council. The Commission’s role in the process, focusing on
land use, was discussed along with the role of the Property and Public Lands
Sub-Committee of the City Council and the whole City Council which will both
focus on developer selection and financial impacts of various development
scenarios.
The Commission had a general discussion about how to approach the review of
the Parameters and the charge given to the Commission by the City Council.
No decisions were made by the Commission and no action was taken.
