MEETING MINUTES
I. ROLL CALL, CALL TO ORDER: The Lake Forest Cemetery Commission convened at
5:00 p.m. at the Lake Forest Cemetery Gatehouse. The following members were
present: Commissioners Patrick Looby (acting Chairman in place of Colin
Silvester), Amy Schuetz, and Dennis O’Brien; and Staff Members Bob Kiely,
Secretary-Treasurer; Chuck Myers, Superintendent of Parks and Forestry; and Phil
Alderks, Cemetery Sexton.
II. AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE CONSERVATION DESIGN FORUM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT
OF PHASE II AND III ENGINEERING/CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS: Superintendent
of Parks and Forestry, Chuck Myers gave the background of the ravine project
and the process of selecting Conservation Design Forum (CDF) as the contractor
for the development of the ravine management plan (Phase I) which was
approved by the Cemetery Commission and completed by CDF. Myers also
explained some background on the grants the Cemetery has applied for, the
status of those grants, and the current grant climate which according to Myers is
somewhat tight. Myers stated as staff has been instructed by the Cemetery
Commission to move forward on the project of ravine restoration, staff seeks
approval by the Commission to contract with CDF to complete Phase II and III of
the Cemetery’s Ravine Management Plan.
Following discussion by the Commission, Commissioner Dennis O’Brien motioned
to authorize staff to hire Conservation Design Forum for the development of
Phase II and III Engineering/Construction documents and Construction
Administration for the Lake Forest Cemetery Ravine Management Plan, for the
sum of $69,700. Commissioner Schuetz seconded the motion. The Commission
then voted unanimously to approve the motion.
III. OTHER MATTERS: None
IV. CITIZENS’ OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS CEMETERY COMMISSION: No citizen
comments were made during this meeting.
V. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 5:15 pm.
